Issue installing QM v24.04.0

Hi all,

I am very new to AiiDa and Quantum Mobile. I have been trying to install the latest version of QM (v24.04.0), but I keep getting a timeout error. This does not occur when I try to download other versions.

What am I doing wrong?

Welcome @aferreira32! Unfortunately, support for Quantum Mobile has been low on the priority list for a while. Can I ask what you’d like to use AiiDA for? I think installing AiiDA in a Python environment and setting up a profile with verdi presto would get you up and running quite quickly, see

that said, maybe Quantum Mobile is more suitable for your use case. Would be good to know, then we can decide to adapt priorities.

Hi @mbercx , thank you for your prompt reply! I’m learning about DFT in class and was just interested to play around with some basic calculations, for now.

I may install a previous version of QM, because using a Virtual Machine seems easier. Unless you propose otherwise.

@mbercx the host from the direct URL installation in v24.04.0 cannot be resolved. I can’t even ping the host from North America.

Thanks @aferreira32. I also can’t reach it. I remember some maintenance was planned at the CSCS facilities, so maybe their object store service is unavailable at the moment?

If you’re just running DFT calculations to learn about them, I’m sure the previous version will do nicely. Note that several DFT codes like Quantum ESPRESSO are now also installable via conda/mamba, e.g.:

Ah, it seems the Quantum Mobile files have been migrated, see:

So this link should work:

https://rgw.cscs.ch/matcloud:public-marvel-vms/quantum_mobile_24.04.0.ova

I’ll update the links in the documentation. Thanks again for bringing this to our attention, @aferreira32!
